Employment Type Sick Time Accruals
The employment type sick time accruals screen allows you to configure sick time accruals for the selected employment type.
Setting | Description |
Accrues Sick time | Check this box to allow employees with this employment type to accrue sick time. Note that the Accrues Sick Time setting on the Employee Payroll Information screen must also be checked for the employee to accrue sick time. |
Start Accruing Hire Date Plus | Set a delay after which employees can start accruing sick time. For example, if new employees do not start accruing until 3 months of employment has elapsed set this to 3 months. |
Start With | Set a starting balance (in hours) for the sick time accrual here. You would set this if your employees are credited with sick time in advance of time worked. |
Accrue | Set the accrual increment (in hours) at which time is accrued per time unit (set in the For Every field). For example, if your employees accrue 40 hours of sick time per year you could set this setting to 3.333 hours and the For Every field to 1 Month. |
For Every | Set the accrual time unit here. The amount accrued per time unit is set in the Accrue field. For example, if your employees accrue 40 hours of sick time per year you could set this setting to 1 Month hours and the Accrue field to 3.333 Hours. Note: If you set your For Every units to hours then sick time is accrued for actual hours worked. If you set your For Every units to weeks or months then sick time is accrued for calendar time elapsed since the accrual start date regardless of actual hours worked. |
Stop Accruing | Check this box and set an accrual limit (in hours) if you want an upper limit on the amount of accrued sick time. |
Carry Balance Forward Yearly | Check this box if you want sick time accrual balances to be carried forward yearly. If this box is not checked then accrual balances will reset at the start of the financial year (or the anniversary of the employee hire date if the Use Hire Date not Fiscal Year checkbox is checked). |
Use Hire Date not Fiscal Year | Check this box if you want the employee hire date anniversary to be used instead of the fiscal year as the roll over date for sick time accrual balances. This setting is ignored if the Carry Balance Forward Yearly is not set, in this case the Hire Date is used as a starting point for sick time accruals. |
